Kuwait has announced that it summoned Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Toutounchi and handed him a formal protest note following an alleged infiltration by members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) onto Bubiyan Island, where they reportedly clashed with Kuwaiti armed forces and wounded a Kuwaiti serviceman.
In a statement, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Suleiman Al-Mashaan reiterated Kuwait’s strong condemnation and denunciation of what he described as a hostile act.
Al-Mashaan called on Iran to immediately and unconditionally cease such actions, holding Tehran fully responsible for what Kuwait described as a blatant violation of its sovereignty and a serious breach of international law, the United Nations Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026.
