Dust levels in Ahwaz today reached more than four times the permissible limit, according to the air laboratory expert from the General Directorate of Environmental Protection in the city. Alireza Azarian stated that the dust density reached 559 micrograms per cubic meter in Ahwaz and 205 micrograms per cubic meter in Abadan, while it previously reached 849 micrograms per cubic meter in Ahwaz, far exceeding the permissible limit of 150 micrograms per cubic meter. Despite continuous warnings about environmental damage, the Iranian occupation authorities continue to ignore the crisis, worsening the environmental situation in the region due to poor natural resource management and exploitation.
This neglect is increasingly deteriorating the health of Ahwazi citizens, as prolonged exposure to such high dust levels raises the incidence of respiratory diseases like asthma and bronchitis, as well as heart and lung diseases. The health damages caused by these harsh environmental conditions further exacerbate the suffering of residents who are already facing deliberate neglect in the improvement of infrastructure and essential services in the region.
