Students from the University of Tehran and Tarbiat Modares University in the Iranian capital plan to hold a protest on Sunday, February 16, continuing demonstrations over the killing of student Amir Mohammad Khaleghi. Meanwhile, students from other universities have also written protest slogans.
In their call for the protest, students at Tarbiat Modares University emphasized that their main demand is securing the roads around the university rather than turning the campus into a security zone controlled by security forces.
Images have circulated showing handwritten slogans and banners put up by students at Shahid Beheshti University in support of the protests at the University of Tehran.
Some of the slogans written include:
• “Death to Khamenei”
• “The blood that is spilled cannot be erased by anything”
Additionally, a number of protesting students held a demonstration on Saturday, February 15, in front of the central library of Shahid Beheshti University.
At the University of Tehran, a sit-in protest took place on Friday inside the dormitory courtyard, where students sat on the ground in protest. However, security forces and plainclothes officers surrounded the university, leading to the arrest of four students.
According to the “Amirkabir” news website, the four students arrested at the University of Tehran were released on Saturday following persistent demands from their peers.
Reports also indicate that one protesting student suffered a broken nose after being assaulted by security forces.
