
A study on Instagram users in Iran revealed that the number of followers of political pages supporting the overthrow of the Iranian regime has increased over the past five years, following the outbreak of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, also known as the “Mahsa Uprising.”
A report by IRNA, the Iranian government’s official news agency, on changes in Instagram usage in Iran indicated that this social network has become increasingly politicized in recent years.
According to social researcher and social media expert Abolfazl Haji Zadgan, the growth in followers of political pages calling for the regime’s overthrow has significantly increased, especially after the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement.
