As Iran’s economic crisis deepens and the regime fails to address the demands of various segments of society, Iranian retirees and a number of workers once again took to the streets in protest across multiple cities. Demonstrators raised slogans critical of regime officials, voicing frustration over the continued neglect of their economic and professional demands.
On Sunday, April 20, protests were held by retirees from the Social Security sector, as well as workers from the steel and mining industries. These demonstrations erupted in several cities, including Ahwaz, Isfahan, Tehran, Rasht, Sari, Shahrood, Shush, Qaem Shahr, Kerman, and Kermanshah.
In Ahwaz, protesters gathered to denounce the government’s failure to respond to their deteriorating living conditions. Chanting for justice and dignity, they criticized the government’s economic mismanagement and the disregard for pensioners’ rights, reflecting growing discontent in this historically marginalized region.
