Davos – In a desperate attempt to save the face of the Iranian occupation regime on the international stage, the Deputy President for Strategic Affairs of the Iranian occupation, Mohammad Javad Zarif, made a series of statements today during his participation in the World Economic Forum in Davos. These remarks were aimed at justifying the oppressive policies of the Iranian regime and denying its clear role in destabilizing the region and supporting terrorist groups.
Denial of Prior Knowledge of Hamas’ Terrorist Attack
In his first attempt to evade responsibility, Zarif denied that the Iranian regime had prior knowledge of Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The attack resulted in over 1,200 deaths and the kidnapping of 250 individuals. Zarif claimed that Tehran had been planning to hold a meeting with U.S. officials on October 9 to discuss the nuclear deal, but the attack derailed these discussions. However, such statements are nothing more than an obvious attempt to distance the Iranian regime from its well-established role as the primary sponsor of terrorist groups in the region, including Hamas.
Justifying Tehran’s Ties to Terrorist Allies
Adding to his evasive narrative, Zarif stated that Iran’s allies in the region, such as Hamas, “always act in their own interests,” claiming they do not receive direct orders from Tehran. This claim contradicts the well-documented financial and military support Iran provides to these allies to spread chaos and terrorism throughout the region.
The Nuclear Program: Lies Under International Oversight
Regarding Iran’s nuclear program, Zarif repeated the misleading claim that Iran does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons. He alleged that Iran’s nuclear activities are conducted under international oversight. However, the facts reveal that the Iranian regime has exploited the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear deal to accelerate its nuclear capabilities, posing a direct threat to regional and international security.
Messages Directed at the United States
Despite adopting a conciliatory tone toward the United States, where Zarif expressed hope for a “more serious” approach from Washington, his statements reflect the Iranian regime’s desperate attempts to alleviate international pressure. This comes as Tehran faces growing isolation and worsening economic conditions due to sanctions.
Ahwaz News Agency: Unveiling the Occupation’s Deception
Javad Zarif’s statements in Davos can only be described as a failed attempt to exonerate the Iranian regime from its systematic support for terrorism in the region. The Iranian occupation continues to use every possible means to maintain its criminal influence in the region, while the peoples under its yoke, led by the Ahwazi people, remain subjected to its oppression and tyranny.
