Iranian Doctor Reveals Horrific Injuries Among Bandar Abbas Port Blast Victims
Bandar Abbas – A senior Iranian surgeon has revealed the devastating extent of injuries suffered by victims of the recent explosion at Bandar Abbas port, painting a grim picture of chaos, trauma, and overwhelmed medical teams.
Dr. Heydar Raeisian, a leading surgery resident at Shahid Mohammadi Hospital, reported that over 400 individuals were rushed to the hospital following the blast, many with severe head and facial injuries. Some patients sustained skull fractures and eye damage so extensive that eye removal surgery was necessary in several cases.
“The influx was so overwhelming that we had no time to write formal sonography reports,” Raeisian told Farhikhtegan newspaper. “We resorted to writing urgent notes directly on patients’ bodies to speed up triage.”
In addition to critical cranial trauma, doctors treated victims with broken ribs, shattered pelvises, and fractured limbs. Raeisian also highlighted the psychological toll of the explosion, citing multiple cases of acute emotional distress. One man reportedly suffered a fatal heart attack upon hearing that his loved ones might be among the casualties, while another presented physical symptoms driven solely by psychological shock.
The explosion has not only left physical scars on hundreds but has also exposed the fragile state of emergency preparedness in Iran’s southern port cities. Authorities have yet to provide a comprehensive explanation for the cause of the blast, fueling growing public concern.
