According to a report by The Telegraph published Monday, the Iranian regime is engaged in a covert campaign inside the United Kingdom that goes far beyond breaches of international sanctions. The report reveals that Tehran is actively operating propaganda networks, illicit financial systems, and digital disinformation efforts designed to divide British society and influence internal affairs.
While the UK Treasury is currently investigating nine potential sanctions violations linked to Iran in 2024, the report notes that these cases represent only a small fraction of Iran’s broader covert operations. Analysts describe the campaign as part of a long-running strategy by the Islamic Republic to destabilize the UK, rooted in decades of political hostility between London and Tehran.
