Iran’s judiciary announced on Saturday that it has executed Mehran Bahramian, a protester arrested during the 2022 “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising, despite international appeals and torture allegations.
The judiciary’s official outlet, Mizan News Agency, reported that the execution took place in the city of Isfahan. Just hours earlier, the Iran Human Rights Society said Bahramian’s family had been called in for a final visit.
Rights groups say Bahramian endured years of imprisonment and torture before his death sentence was confirmed. He was sentenced alongside his brother, Fazel Bahramian, who also remains at risk of execution.
