Four political prisoners held in Greater Tehran Prison are at risk of being sentenced to death after the Iranian authorities fabricated charges against them in connection to protests marking the 40th day after Mahsa Amini’s death on October 26, 2022.
The detainees—Omid Maroufkhani (35), Milad Soleimanizadeh (30), Omid Mardmiyan Qezeljeh (30), and Milad Ahmadi Roudi (25)—have been accused of “moharebeh (enmity against God), premeditated murder, disrupting public security, and possession of unlicensed explosive materials.” Another detainee, Mehdi Hemmati (38), faces similar charges, including “disrupting public security, possession of explosives, and conspiracy against internal security.”
This case is part of Iran’s ongoing crackdown on dissent, where the government systematically fabricates charges to justify harsh sentences against protesters.
