Following a temporary ceasefire with Israel, the Iranian regime has begun a harsh crackdown on Afghan migrants—ordering mass deportations and targeting them as so-called “security threats,” according to state media and officials.
“All unauthorized foreigners must exit the country,” read an order issued to the national police, as reported by Iranian outlets.
Border Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmad-Ali Goudarzi went further, threatening landlords:
“Any home or property rented to Afghans will have its lease annulled. The property will be sealed and confiscated.”
This policy not only violates basic human rights, but also endangers thousands of vulnerable Afghan families who have fled war and poverty—many of whom have lived in Iran for years.
Once again, Iran’s rulers are using scapegoating tactics—targeting refugees, minorities, and the voiceless—whenever they face political or military pressure abroad. Ahwazis and other marginalized communities know this pattern all too well.
