Ali Shamkhani, the political advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, threatened to expel International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors and to halt cooperation with the agency if threats against Tehran continue.
In a post on the platform “X,” Shamkhani said that the continuation of “external threats and placing Iran in a state of military readiness” could push Tehran to take “deterrent measures such as expelling IAEA inspectors and stopping cooperation with the agency.”
He added that other possible steps include “moving enriched materials to safe and undisclosed locations within Iran,” indicating an increase in secrecy and security measures surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.
Commenting on U.S. and Israeli threats about a possible military strike on Iran, Amir Nasser Arasteh, another military advisor to Supreme Leader Khamenei, said: “The threats from global arrogance and the President of the United States will never be carried out, and we are fully prepared to respond to these threats.”
He added: “As a war veteran, I say with full certainty that these threats will not be implemented.”
This military official pointed out that “Iran’s armed forces are ready to respond to such threats in ways that go beyond their expectations, and in all military dimensions,” stressing that “beyond all of this is the faith of Iranian soldiers, which forms the real response to any threat.”
This warning comes following statements by U.S. President Donald Trump, who said his country may resort to military action if negotiations with Tehran fail.
