
Ahwaz – A deadly fire broke out aboard a ship carrying methanol at the port of Dayyer in Bushehr Province, southern Iran, leaving at least three people dead and ten others injured, according to local officials.
Kourosh Dehghan, head of the Crisis Management Office in Bushehr Province, said the fire has been brought under control, and firefighting teams are currently working to cool the chemical storage tank.
Hassan Mousavi, head of emergency medical services in the province, stated that the blaze erupted in a methanol tank belonging to Kaveh Petrochemical Company. He warned that the number of casualties could rise due to the scale of the incident.
Ali Reza Sajjadi, governor of Dayyer district, confirmed that the fire was triggered by an explosion during welding operations on a barge early Wednesday morning, June 11.
Local authorities reported that the injured have been transported to hospitals across the province for treatment.
