
This morning, authorities launched a widespread arrest campaign targeting dozens of Ahwazi activists and Sunni individuals across several cities and areas in Ahwaz, in an escalating effort to suppress dissenting voices.
Details of the Arrests:
In the city of Malashiya, the intelligence department arrested several members of the Sunni community, including Younes Al-Gharbawi, Reda Al-Zuheiri, and three others whose identities remain unknown.
Local sources reported that most of those arrested were active on social media, addressing issues such as poverty, unemployment, and environmental destruction. The authorities confiscated their phones, computers, and personal belongings, transferring them to undisclosed locations.

• Ahwaz City: Reda Al-Heidari, Jawad Al-Heidari, Ali Al-Sari.
• Malashiya Area: Seyyed Fouad Al-Moussawi, Jawad Al-Afri, Yaseen Al-Sailawi, Ali Al-Karushawi.
• Ghazlawiya Village: Mohammad Al-Naseri.
• Khalifa City: Khaled Al-Amouri, Ali Al-Amouri, Mohammad Al-Amouri.
Additionally, prominent figures such as writer Saeed Mazra’a, photojournalist Milad Al-Bahri, and several Arab activists in Al-Falahiya City, whose identities remain unknown, were also arrested.

Kareem Khalaf, an Ahwazi human rights activist, commented on these developments, saying:
“These mass arrests reflect a systematic policy aimed at stifling freedoms and silencing voices in Ahwaz. Targeting activists and intellectuals highlights the authorities’ fear of free voices defending the people’s rights. We call on the international community and human rights organizations to act immediately to hold those responsible for these violations accountable and ensure the immediate release of all detainees.”

The Ahwazi Organization for Human Rights strongly condemned the recent arrests, describing them as a blatant violation of international conventions. The organization also called for the disclosure of the detainees’ whereabouts and the safeguarding of their legal rights.
