Toby Craig, the son of British nationals Craig and Lindsay Foreman — currently imprisoned in Iran on espionage charges — has revealed new details about their detention, stating that Iranian authorities accuse his parents of entering the country as “tourists” with the alleged intent of “gathering information.”
Speaking to The Mirror on Friday, May 30, Toby, 19, confirmed that representatives from the UK Foreign Office met with his mother in prison earlier in the week. “The meeting took place on Tuesday,” he said, adding that family members had written letters to his parents and handed them over to the officials ahead of the visit. “We don’t know if the letters ever reached them,” he noted.
Describing the arrest as a “huge shock” for the entire family, Toby expressed concern about his parents’ mental health. “My mum is a psychologist, so she might be coping better than my dad,” he added.
Iranian authorities have accused the couple of espionage for hostile foreign powers, a charge often leveled against dual or foreign nationals in politically motivated detentions.
