The United Kingdom summoned Iran’s ambassador, Ali Mousavi, on Monday after three Iranian nationals were formally charged under the National Security Act, according to a statement from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
“The UK Government is clear that protecting national security remains our top priority, and Iran must be held accountable for its actions,” an FCDO spokesperson said.
The summons comes in response to the recent announcement that three individuals had been charged with engaging in conduct likely to assist a foreign intelligence service—activity strongly linked to Iranian state interests.
